Mary Peterson Clyde's Utah Paintings

In case you were feeling intimidated about sending in your pictures, rest assured they couldn't be much worse than these. Really, I don't know why I can't take a straight picture!

My mom and I think that all of these are Utah pictures, but we know little more than that.
Orderville, Utah: it looks like the white cliffs East of Orderville and Mt. Carmel.

The third picture is not Utah--there are no mountains like that in Utah. It looks to me like the Tetons, specifically the Grand, Teewinot and Mt. Owen from near Jackson Lake.

One is a gas station in the desert labeled Richfield. I think is in a little town east of Wickenburg, possibly Morristown or Wittman.

The painting following that is a Utah house.

Lehi Roller Mill

I believe the one after the Lehi Rollermills is in and old abandoned mining town in Utah, Mercur

Given to Sarah Clyde for her high school graduation (2001)

The one following that is in Utah and it kind of looks like our Aunt Visa's (Lovisa) home in Scipio. It looks like Scipio to me. Maybe someone can tell better. Visa was the youngest sister of our Grandmother Sadie Peterson.

Steven and Pam Peterson's Paintings

Evan's son and daughter-in-law sent their paintings via email a couple days ago. Aunt Pam's comments are below each painting. (Thanks, Aunt Pam and Uncle Steve!)

The Black Forest - Germany This is the 1st Painting that Steve and I received from Evan.

Quite some time ago Evan asked his children what he could paint for them. Steve requested Death Dealer by Frank Frazetta WOW! Steve had put together a puzzle of Death Dealer in his younger days and shellacked it, we are lucky enough to still have it!

Compilation - Amish in Winter Evan sent us a list of paintings and told us to pick one, we were living in Michigan at the time, so lots of snow & Amish seemed like the right painting for us. Mark P. apparently had viewed this painting already and was more than ready to "trade things" to gain possession of this painting. (It is beautiful, isn't it? ECC)

We think this is Redondo Beach in California, I have asked Gail about it before and can't remember what beach she said it was.

This small painting is only 4" x 9", is dated 1934 and it looks like Arizona to us.

My Graduation Pa picture

This is the last Pa painting from me. He gave this to me when I graduated from college (so it was most likely painted in 1999). I was thinking the Scipio painting was the college graduation painting, but then, I realized this one was. (I got married 2 weeks after I graduated--it was kind of a crazy time :) )

I'm thinking this is another Utah one. The photo doesn't do it justice; this is probably the favorite painting of mine from Pa.

Man, doing this makes me miss him!

Aunt Carol's Paintings

Carol Decker, Evan's oldest daughter, let me take pictures when I was at her house a bit ago. She's got some beautiful ones!

This is a painting of the house that Evan and his brothers grew up in. It's in Phoenix; I believe it's still standing.

This one is familiar to Arizonans. It's the Rosson House in Heritage Square; it's in the heart of downtown Phoenix.

Aunt Carol wasn't sure where this one was from, but the style of the house makes me wonder if it's not another Scipio painting. Perhaps?

I remember growing up seeing this painting, but I don't know anything about it. Rays?

And, yeah, I could try to crop these, or I could get the lighting better, or I could find a good photographer. (I'm a little shy now that I know Mary is seeing these :) !)

But, if I try to get all fancy, I'll never get stuff up...

Paintings Pa Gave Me

Every once in a while, Pa would announce he was giving away paintings. I would always take whatever I could get. The one above is the first one from one of these give aways. I got it in 1993 or 1994. But, I don't know when it was painted or, um, what it's a painting of. I believe they're Utah mountains, though. Anyone recognize them?



I got this painting and the next one when Gail was getting ready to move to Utah in winter of 2005. She was giving away the last what was stored at her house then. Again, I'm afraid, no idea of what these are paintings of.

Wedding painting

I got this painting from Pa when I got married (so it was painted in 1999). He told me that that's Uncle Burke in the corner. I believe he said it was a house in Scipio, Utah, where his father, Harold Peterson (aka Papa) was from.

As I've taken pictures of my Pa paintings, I realized I don't know where most of them are from or the dates they were painted. If you have the same problem, I figure by posting them and adding the brain power of all our readers (because, really, thousands will want to look at Pa's paintings!), we may be able to get more information together.

Rachel is a rockstar for getting this up and running, and Hillery is a rockstar for being so on top of everything and getting her painting up (really, it would have taken me 3 months to a. remember, b. do it). Thanks, ladies!
